A long, long time ago, in a galaxy far away..... No, no, no, that's a different story.
How did I get to this place? In 1982, I was a high school graduate and did not have a clue what I was going to do with my life. At the recommendation of a friend, I entered NAIT and completed the Mechanical Industrial Engineering Tech program. That turned out well until the recession hit right around the same time as I graduated. I did manage to bounce between welding shops and oilfield construction companies for a few years but it was not very stable work. It was suggested to me that I should look at other fields and I entered the U of A's Physiotherapy program in 1988. Graduated in 1992 and entered the workforce as a bonified physio.
That profession took me to work in Oregon for 5 years and then back home to Alberta until now. What they don't warn you about the physio job in that it can be very physical work. At this point, my knees, feet and hands are starting to wear out and I needed something else to keep my mind and fingers busy. Turning to equipment repair and testing seemed a natural way to go. I have the necessary training, I have the tools and have been doing repairs in the various clinics I worked in since I started as a physio. I know the machines. I also know physios, chiros and the other allied health professionals don't like to be without their equipment to help them work. So here I am.
